Usually in NYC, I spend most of my time in the
bead stores and am filled with inspiration for new classes and projects for the
shop. This week I spent a few days in
NYC scouring the fashion district for beautiful fabrics, trims and beads! I stumbled across the most amazing items that
were not meant to be used on jewelry at all!
Vintage buttons, for example, make beautiful closures on bracelets and
necklaces. Or…. string a bunch on a
beading wire interspersed with beautiful faceted vintage glass beads and
rondelles! I also found beautiful trims
I could picture intertwining with chains
to make a beautiful long, whimsical necklace!
Florals are in for this spring and many designers are using silk or
organza floral pins and trims! You could easily wire one of those pins to a
cluster of faceted glass bracelets or as an "off" center piece on a
gemstone or pearl necklace! One of our
favorite suggestions to our customers is to go home and dig through their (or
their grandmother's) jewelry box! This
usually leads to fabulous finds that they can bring back to the shop, take
apart, and give the focal pieces a breath of fresh air with new beads and a new
design! Our favorite trim and button
shop in NYC is M&J Trimming which is located at 1008 6th Ave between 37th
and 38th Streets! Bead Inspired!
Have you ever tried shop flowers?! They're great!

Women of all ages and economic strata seem to be influenced. From young college going teenagers to working professionals to home makers to moms, everyone seems to be sporting their style on this kind of beads jewelry.
